Blog Wet dust collectors: hydrodynamic filters for sheet metal workers

Wet dust collector technology may be the most suitable for sheet metal processing companies.

The so-called hydrodynamic filters in fact are able to remove the dust particles dispersed in the air and, consequently, make it healthier and almost eliminate the risk of contamination of the products.

The hydrodynamic filters, or with wet technology, are specific systems for the purification designed to capture and remove solid and liquid particles present in a flow of air through the use of a liquid. Once captured, these particles will be treated and rendered harmless. The liquid used can be either atomized or in the form of a veil on walls placed along the path that the gaseous flow must follow.

How does a wet dust collector work?

In hydrodynamic filters, the polluted air enters the filter and meets an expansion chamber that slows down the flow and, at the same time, favors the precipitation of coarse particles. Then the flow crosses the venturi throat dragging part of the water present in the filter. Here the centrifugation process will take place and will humidify the air and, consequently, retain the polluting particles.

Before being reintroduced into the atmosphere, the clean air passes through a special droplet separator where the residual water trapped in the flow will be deposited.

This mechanism of operation of the plant will remove the pollutants returning in fact clean and healthy air.

The technology of wet dust collectors is particularly suitable in environments where there is the presence of dangerous and aggressive dust, as it is possible to use acid or basic reagents with the aim of neutralizing the harmful components. For these reasons, this specific type of hydrodynamic filter is suitable for installation in companies that deal with the polishing and satin finishing of sheet metal.
