Filtration systems maintenance: preventive, ordinary, extraordinary

Written by Cindy Vargas | Dec 16, 2020 7:00:00 AM

When it comes to filtration systems and maintenance it is good to point out that there is not a single type of intervention.

In fact, according to the reason for which it is requested, three different interventions can be differentiated.

Below we will therefore see to make clear the distinction between preventive, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance in order to better understand which measures to implement to protect your plant, but also which could be the most onerous interventions.

  • Preventive maintenance is an instrumental and mathematical analysis also performed remotely, which allows you to evaluate the main parameters of the system. This type of intervention is particularly useful for understanding first and foremost the use of the system itself, the amount of work to which it is subjected and, consequently, planning periodic interventions aimed at always keeping it in optimal conditions
  • Ordinary maintenance is also defined as scheduled following preventive interventions. During these visits, the qualified staff takes care of the replacement of parts subject to ordinary wear, such as filter elements, bags, panels, cartridges, baskets and gaskets. This is in order to restore the original performance of the system and limit the risk of damage due to poor maintenance and cleaning of the system itself. In addition to the replacement of the elements subjected to wear, a general check of the system is carried out with Δp reading (measurements of the average flow rate values, deviations from the nominal flow rate, etc.), control of the structures, verification of seals, control of the cleaning system of the filter elements, check of inlet and outlet pipes.
  • Extraordinary maintenance is unforeseen and urgent maintenance, usually carried out following breakdowns, downtimes and structural damage. Very often, these interventions are the result of poor or totally absent ordinary maintenance which led to premature wear of the system. In most cases, they may require the replacement of one or more parts, including electrical elements, fans and motors, with a consequent financial investment that is certainly not indifferent.

HFiltration helps you to schedule the maintenance of your plant

HFiltration has been dealing with air purification and filtration systems for years, with the aim of protection human health, the environment and to comply with the regulations regarding emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. From design to installation, without neglecting the maintenance carried our on the systems to ensure they operate at their maximum performance and for long periods of time.

If you also want to implement a preventive strategy to extend the useful life of your system, you can contact us and we will help you. You will have a free 30-minute telephone consultation during which, based on the system in your possession, we will evaluate the most appropriate type of preventive and routine maintenance.
